Freightliner Cascadia Parts Fitment Guide: 2008-2017 vs 2018+ Model Year Differences
Updated April 2026 — The Freightliner Cascadia is the best-selling Class 8 truck in North America, but it has one major pitfall for parts buyers: the 2008-2017 and 2018+ models share the same name but almost no exterior parts. This guide helps you identify which generation you have and find the correct replacement parts.
Quick Identification: Which Cascadia Do You Have?
| Feature | 2008-2017 "Classic" Cascadia | 2018+ "New" Cascadia |
|---|---|---|
| Headlight Shape | Rounded, flows into fender | Angular, sharper design |
| Grille | Three horizontal bars, chrome surround | Single large opening, body-color surround |
| Bumper Style | Multi-piece chrome center bumper | One-piece design with integrated air dam |
| Mirror Design | Separate main and spot mirror pods | Integrated mirror housing |
| Part Number Prefix | A17-XXXXX (older format) | A17-XXXXX (different numbers) |
Headlights: The #1 Most Confused Part
Cascadia headlights are the most commonly ordered truck part — and the most commonly ordered incorrectly. Here's how to get it right:
2008-2017 Cascadia Headlights
The classic Cascadia uses a rounded headlight that integrates smoothly into the fender line. Available in both halogen and optional factory LED. The halogen version is by far the most common. Part numbers include A06-75732-004 (driver) and A06-75732-003 (passenger) for the standard halogen assembly.
2018+ New Cascadia Headlights
The redesigned headlight has a sharper, more angular profile. LED headlights became standard on higher trim levels. The housing shape, mounting points, and electrical connectors are completely different from the 2008-2017 model. Part numbers include A06-88632-000 series. These do NOT interchange with pre-2018 models in any way.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Ordering a "Cascadia headlight" without specifying the year — this is the #1 cause of returns
- Assuming halogen and LED versions are interchangeable — they use different housings
- Ordering driver side when you need passenger (or vice versa)
- Not checking whether your truck has chrome or black housing headlights
Mirrors
Cascadia mirrors evolved between generations. The 2008-2017 model uses a traditional split mirror design with separate main viewing and convex spot mirror sections. The 2018+ model integrates these into a redesigned single housing with improved aerodynamics.
Key mirror considerations:
- Heated vs. non-heated: Check for a wire connector at the base. Heated mirrors have an electrical connection; non-heated do not.
- Power vs. manual adjust: Most Cascadias have power-adjustable mirrors, but verify before ordering.
- Chrome vs. black: Both fit the same truck but are different part numbers.
Bumpers & Grilles
The 2018+ Cascadia bumper is a one-piece integrated design, while the 2008-2017 uses a multi-piece center bumper with separate end caps. Grilles are similarly incompatible between generations. When ordering bumper components, verify whether you need the center section, end caps, or the complete assembly.
