Kenworth T680 & T880 Parts Compatibility Guide: What Interchanges and What Doesn't

Updated April 2026 — The Kenworth T680 and T880 are both Paccar products and share some components, but many exterior parts are model-specific. This guide clarifies what interchanges between the two models and what doesn't, helping you avoid costly ordering mistakes.

T680 vs. T880: Key Visual Differences

The T680 is Kenworth's aerodynamic highway tractor, while the T880 is the vocational/set-forward-axle model with a more traditional look. Despite sharing the Paccar platform, their front-end styling is distinctly different.

Component Interchangeable? Notes
Headlights NO Different shape, mounting points, and connectors. T680 uses P54-6164 series, T880 uses P54-6165 series.
Grilles NO Completely different designs. T880 grille (L77-6289) has the distinctive Kenworth "crown" shape.
Side Marker Lamps YES Amber side markers (L77-6116 series) are shared across T680 and T880.
Mirrors PARTIAL Mirror glass and heating elements may interchange, but complete assemblies differ.
Bumpers NO Different mounting and design between the aerodynamic T680 and vocational T880.
Hood NO T680 has an integrated aerodynamic hood; T880 has a tilt-style vocational hood.
Cab Interior Parts MOSTLY YES Many interior cab components (dash, seats, sleeper) are shared across Kenworth models.

Kenworth Headlight Guide

T680 Headlights

The T680 headlight has a swept-back design that follows the aerodynamic profile of the hood. Available in halogen and LED, with chrome or black housing options.

  • Halogen, Black Housing: P54-6164-100 (LH), P54-6164-100R (RH)
  • Halogen, Chrome Housing: P54-1059-100 (LH), P54-1059-100R (RH)
  • LED: Different part number series — verify by VIN

T880 Headlights

The T880 headlight is more upright and squared-off to match the vocational styling. Different mounting geometry means T680 headlights physically cannot be installed on a T880.

  • Halogen, Black Housing: P54-6165-100 (LH), P54-6165-100R (RH)
  • Halogen, Chrome Housing: Available — verify specific PN by year

Understanding Paccar Part Numbers

All Kenworth (and Peterbilt) parts use Paccar's structured numbering system:

  • P54- prefix = Lighting components
  • L77- prefix = Body trim, grilles, exterior panels
  • The suffix typically indicates side: no suffix or "100" = left/driver, "R" or "200" = right/passenger

When searching for parts, try both with and without hyphens: P54-6165-100 and P546165100 are the same part. Some catalogs list one format, some the other.

Peterbilt Cross-Compatibility

Since Kenworth and Peterbilt are both Paccar brands, there's sometimes speculation about parts crossing between them. In practice, exterior parts (headlights, grilles, bumpers) are model-specific and do NOT interchange between Kenworth and Peterbilt models. However, some internal cab components and electrical parts may be shared. Always verify by part number.
